F/W 2020 Look #4
We can remember certain things about somebody like Josephine Baker. Her infamous yellow skirt.
Or perhaps Eartha Kitt, an iconic cat woman. But often the details get lost.
Josephine walked into the palaces of kings and queens yet couldn’t get a cup of coffee in America. She aided the French by passing secrets during WWII. One of the few women to speak at the March on Washington in 1963.
Eartha financed her own career. In the early days of Hollywood, this was common for Black stars. The microaggressions, segregation, and countless indignities did not dissuade her.
These are the details that should be remembered. Yellow skirts have power, and cat woman is more than a comic book sex symbol.
An orange jersey wrap skirt, with a cotton floral top. Detailed with a fur collar. Because it’s the details that empower the woman. More than a label, a timeless icon.
